Tough Kid Tool-Box: Social Stories, Love and Logic and Sensory Integration
In this training, teachers will learn strategies to help students that require frequent intervention from the teacher for appropriate behavior and classroom success. Participants will be taught how to break down behaviors and figure out the function it serves, and create a success plan for students. Teachers will also learn how to help students with sensory or ADHD concerns. Several proprioceptive and vestibular activities and their effect with students with ADHD or sensory needs will be demonstrated.
Participants will be given interventions (Fidget Kits, Motor Grids, The Crate Exchange program, and more) that can be done classrooms to proactively meet the needs students and set them up for success. Participants will also be taught brain compatible approach to classroom management. Teachers will explore positive methods for helping children handle frustrations and control impulses. Some skills addressed will be: setting limits without anger, managing disruptive students, helping students solve their own problems, and diffusing power struggles.
